With the development of highly accurate, portable hydrographic survey systems, Real Time Kinematic GPS, precise carrier phase positioning is now usable in the hydrographic environment. RTK GPS generates positions with accuracies of better than 5 cm in all dimensions. With precise fathometer soundings and Real Time Surveying combined, hydrographic surveys are now accomplished with more accuracy and less cost. This is particularly useful in locations where there is a large amount of low frequency swells, which cannot be accurately accounted for by tide gauges. The Depth Sounder Recorder provides precision, high resolution depth recordings, and is designed for use in small boat surveying. We produce data for use in engineering surveys, harbor and channel maintenance, and pre- and post-dredge surveys.

ASC has developed a unique side mount that is moved from one watercraft to another, when necessary. This mount carries a precise GPS antenna on the top and a precise transducer for the fathometer on the bottom, which allows us to collect accurate elevations and depths simultaneously. The need for heave, pitch, and roll compensation is greatly reduced using ASC methodology.
